What is ABF film?
ABF,full name- Ajinomoto Build-up Film,is an electronic grade resin base film material developed by Ajinomoto Corporation of Japan, which is mainly used for insulation and building layers in IC packaging substrates.
Where is ABF film used?
ABF film is used as an insulating material for high-performance semiconductors (CPUs), which are the heart of personal computers. ABF currently accounts for nearly 100% of the global market for insulating films used in major personal computers.

Liquid insulating resin VS ABF film?
1,It is easy to produce bubbles and uneven printing, which affects the yield ==》Eliminate the risk of bubbles and improve the yield
Solvents need to be used, and there is volatility ==》No solvent volatilization, environmentally friendly
Gradual processing on one side and one side ==》It can be processed on both sides at the same time, which greatly improves production capacity
Fluidity affects thickness consistency ==》The film thickness is uniform and controllable
Orange peel and rough == may appear on the surface, which is smoother and smoother, which is conducive to the formation of subsequent micropatterns

3 layers of ABF film's construction:
1. Cover Film
Purpose: Protects the middle ABF functional layer from moisture, scratches or contamination.
2. ABF (functional layer, approx. 10–100 μm thick)
The core layer is also the key functional carrier of the whole material.
Material: Resin matrix composite (containing polyimide, epoxy or proprietary ingredients)
Purpose: Provide electrical insulation properties, support laser microvias, and act as a dielectric barrier between conductor patterns
Separation, good thermal and dimensional stability, thickness optional: 10 μm – 100 μm on request
3. PET Basement film (polyester protective layer)
Purpose: Provide mechanical support for ABF membranes and physical protection during transportation
