Difference Between SiC and GaN

I.The physical properties are different

Both silicon carbide and gallium nitride are commonly used semiconductor materials, but they differ greatly in their physical properties. Silicon carbide is a chemical compound composed of carbon and silicon elements with the chemical formula SiC. Whereas, gallium nitride is a compound containing gallium and nitrogen with the chemical formula GaN.

In terms of crystal structure, silicon carbide is an amorphous or polycrystalline material, while gallium nitride is a material with a single crystal structure. In addition, silicon carbide conducts electricity better than gallium nitride because of its higher electron mobility, making it more suitable for high-frequency and high-power applications.

II. The application is different

Both silicon carbide and gallium nitride have a wide range of applications, but they are used in different ways. III. The price vary

The prices of silicon carbide and gallium nitride also differ. Because gallium nitride is more complex to prepare, it is more expensive than silicon carbide, and the price of gallium nitride has been rising. Since silicon carbide is relatively simple to prepare, it has a much lower price.
