On May 19, Lei Jun, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, announced that the 3nm process mobile phone processor chip Xuanjie O1 independently developed and designed by Xiaomi will be unveiled soon.

This is a breakthrough in the design of 3nm chips in Chinese mainland, closely following the international advanced level. Xiaomi will become the fourth company in the world to release independent research and development and design of 3nm process mobile phone processor chips after Apple, Qualcomm and MediaTek.

According to Lei Jun, Xiaomi has invested in chip research and development for ten years, and has been exploring SoC chips since 2014. After long-term technology exploration and accumulation, Xiaomi will start the research and development of SoC chips again in 2021, and with the strategic determination of "investing 50 billion yuan in 10 years", it took four years to create Xuanjie O1. This major innovation breakthrough makes Xiaomi the fourth technology company in the world after Apple, Qualcomm and MediaTek to design 3nm mobile phone SoC chips on its own. In recent years, Xiaomi has continuously increased its efforts in scientific and technological innovation, put forward a new ten-year goal of "investing in underlying technologies on a large scale, and striving to become a global leader in a new generation of hard-core technology", and identified chips, AI and OS as the three major technology tracks for key investment. It is reported that Xiaomi's total R&D investment in the past five years has reached 105 billion yuan, and it is expected to invest 30 billion yuan in R&D this year. At 10 o'clock in the morning, Lei Jun posted on Weibo that Xiaomi's strategic new product launch conference was scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 22.

He said that there are a lot of blockbuster new products this time: mobile phone SoC chip Xiaomi Xuanjie o1, Xiaomi 15SPro, Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, Xiaomi's first SUV Xiaomi yu7, etc.
